Nino: Fluminense’s captain who has flourished under Fernando Diniz

Fluminense lifted the Libertadores title in November for the first time, and the man who led them to victory on the pitch was Brazilian centre-back Nino.


Having signed for the club back in 2019 to replace Roger Ibañez who moved on to Atalanta, the Brazilian has been a prominent figure within the side ever since.


However, it has been under Fernando Diniz’s tenure where the 26-year-old has excelled. After Fred hung up his boots, the captain’s armband was passed over to Nino; quite the statement considering the team was full of experienced pros.
